Company of the Year
2025 Company of the Year: Badia
In 1967, in a modest storefront in Miam i’s Little Havana neighborhood Cuban exile Jose Badía embanked on a mission: to deliver quality spices and seasoning blends to local bodegas and small grocers Once a hardware businessowner back in Cuba, Jose now carried his entrepreneurial spirit to American soil, determined to blend tradition with opportunity.
By 1970, his son, Joseph “Pepe” B adía, joined the enterprise. Together, father and son transformed the company, from loading bottles into station wagons and servicing Miami’s independent stores, into a powerhouse of the spice industry. Their bold vision? Offer authentic flavor, affordable pricing, and cultural elegance for kitchens across the nation and beyond.
More than just a manufacturer, Badia has always been grounded in commute ser vice and cultural relevance. The founders knew that spices do more than flavor food, they bring people together, evoke memories, and celebrate identity. This ethos has translated into strong partnerships with independent grocers, the very backbone of our industry, whose values mirror those Badia.
For the independent premarket sector, Badia has been more than just a supplier, it is an ally. Their engagement with retailers, commitment to price value, and cultural sensitivity have reinforced the mission of the National Supermarket Association: empower independent grocers, strengthen communities and drive excellence. This alignment makes Badia a fitting recipient of our Company of the Year award.
As Badia steps into tomorrow, building on decades of heritage, innovation and service, we celebrate their legacy and look forward to the next chapter. Their story is one of resilience, authenticity and flavor, and it mirrors the values we hold dear at NSA Florida.
With pride and admiration, we honor Badia Spices as the Company of the Year 2025.
